Employee Spotlight: Claire Kingsley

Creativity, content, and coffee: These are few of Claire’s favorite things. We’ve always known there was so much more to our innovative (and goofy) Content Specialist, so we sat down with Claire to find out about all things “Claire Bear.”

What do you like most about your job?

As the Content Specialist at Tulip Tree Studios, I’m able to combine two of my favorites – social media and writing. With a variety of clients, I’m able to tap into both my sense of humor and my serious side. Balance is everything. Knowing that every day will offer a new project, a new challenge, and a new lesson keeps the workday and my creative juices flowing.

What energizes you at work?

The creative collaboration of the team. I love bouncing ideas off my teammates throughout the day. I’m surrounded by a group of creatives, who are supportive and full of fresh ideas. The energy and attitudes are contagious.

What is one of your favorite quotes?

My favorite quote is a song lyric from a song by the band America, it goes: “Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man that he didn’t already have.”

Inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the band sings about whether it’s brains, heart, or courage that you’re striving for, you already have the tools you need – you just need to use them. (Cute!)

What hashtags describe your personality best?

#OOTD (Outfit of the Day). My outfits are my favorite form of self-expression. In my free time you can find me wandering the local thrift shops for my next signature piece. Five-dollar Converse? Yes, please!

#FallVibes. Autumn is when I truly live my best life. Give me all the crunchy leaves, sweater weather, and (of course) pumpkin spice lattes, and I’ll be one happy camper.

What was your first job?

I had a paper route throughout middle school. I lived for having first access to the comics section.

What was your childhood dream job?

As a kid, I wanted to be a P.E. teacher. I’ve always been a big believer in the benefits of physical activity. Plus, I liked the idea of getting paid to play dodge ball for the rest of my life.

Tell us one thing that’s on your bucket list.

I don’t keep a bucket list, but one goal of mine is travel solo cross-country. (*insert cliché wanderlust quote here*). My dad took the train from Minnesota to California when he was in his twenties, and he made it sound wonderful. Not a day goes by when I don’t think about myself gazing out of the train window, headphones in, and Neil Young singing to me through the mountains (*sigh*).

Where is your happy place?

My happy place is Café Steam, located on Broadway in downtown Rochester. It’s the perfect setting for an introverted extrovert like me to read, write, and caffeinate. Large iced dirty chai, please!
